Finding the Right People and Guest Writer Series

Hi everyone! I hope you all are well and had a great week. Today I am going to be introducing a new chapter of the blog, a guest writer series. I have an amazing lineup of some pretty incredible people who agreed to share their story and advice with all of you. I am so so excited and I can not wait for you all to read these entries. You will still hear from me, but this is a huge new phase of the blog.

Today, this new chapter will start. I am very lucky to have incredible people and friends in my life. My 2 best friends, Carlie and Calista, are some of the best people I have met and they are amazing with Cate. I thought the best way to introduce this guest writer series was to start with them. I asked them if they would be willing to send me an entry about how being with my family has impacted them. They were so amazing enough to agree to do it, and wow I am very lucky to have them. Calista and Carlie, thank you. Here is what they had to say.

"The Tyner family has always shown me kindness, friendship, and compassion, but most importantly they have shown me the importance of unwavering love. As a friend of Alex, I’ve seen the Tyner family bring nurses into the house, deal with distraught looks from strangers, and become frustrated with Cate’s actions. I’ve also experienced the long nights up with Cate at sleepovers and heard about her early morning fits, but I have never once heard the Tyner's complain. As a family, they roll with the punches, and in my opinion, they do so flawlessly. But what I learned most from being around the Tyner’s was how to love. It could be very easy to be upset at Cate for making it harder to go on family vacations, or as Alex mentioned in one of her earlier posts, they could be resentful that they have to worry about introducing Cate to new friends. Despite this, they treat Cate with the same kindness and respect as they would a “normal” sibling - they treat her with love. Watching how the Tyner family interacts with Cate and their continuous choice to love with their entire heart, has in return taught me how to love. Being around this family has taught me the importance of treating all people with compassion and how to truly smile when fronted with adversity - so thank you. You have all shown me so much kindness and unknowingly you have taught me some of the most valuable lessons."

-Calista

"I have known Cate and the Tyner family for many years now, and they have all impacted me in positive ways. Cate and her entire family have always been so kind and caring. I love being around Cate because she always seems to be smiling, and she truly gives off happy vibes. You could just be sitting in the same room with Cate, and she automatically lights up the mood. Something that I have learned from Cate over the years is to appreciate the simple, yet beautiful things in life. I know Cate loves music, a nice smelling body wash, and a night sitting by the campfire. It is little things like these that make life happy and beautiful. All of these things remind me of Cate and her kindness. Cate and her family are some of the kindest, most understanding people I know, and I feel so lucky to know them. "

-Carlie
